Tonight, the controversial Golden Globe Awards are again on the small display screen, after NBC and Hollywood at massive boycotted final 12 months’s awards ceremony. 

The awards ceremony, and the group behind it, the Hollywood Overseas Press Affiliation (HFPA), have been harshly criticized for his or her lack of range for years; a 2021 investigation by the Los Angeles Occasions discovered that there have been no Black journalists amongst HFPA’s 87 members on the time, which was maybe why critically-lauded reveals similar to Insecure and I Might Destroy You have been snubbed. In response, the HFPA introduced that it might diversify its membership with 103 new voters, and there was clearly a concerted effort to diversify the awards general, from nominations, to presenters, to host.
